Starting as a packaging technologist/engineer with the retailer Co-op, Ian’s career has led him to buy, sell and market both consumer products and packaging/equipment. He is probably best known for his time with frozen food retailer Iceland, where he started the ‘Iceland’ brand and helped launch the retailer’s initiative to go plastic free by 2023. Ian has used digital printing extensively and is known for his massive love for packaging and printing. Having now semi-retired (and working to improve his golf handicap), Ian is now running a consultancy providing various services such as digital print, packaging development and leads on best practice packaging sustainability.
Ian is a Fellow of the Packaging Society as part of the institute of Mining, Minerals and Materials (IOM3) and lectures at two universities to pass on his knowledge.
